Clubs & Societies Annual Awards Dinner '08

FP Hotel

Another Year another Awards Dinner! but this year, all a little different. Set in the scenic Frensham Pond Hotel - overlooking the lake this years dinner was always goign to memorable. With 75 people representing 5 Clubs & Societies from Farnham in attendance, the evening started at 7pm for pre-dinner drinks. What followed shortly was a fantastic three-course meal served with the quality and professionalism you expect from such a great venue. Helping to wash down the Chicken stuffed with wild mushroom main course was ample wine to ensure everyone got into the spirit of things. After dessert was cleared and coffee served it was time for the awards. Below are the results of the main Uni Awards:

Club of the Year - Netball

Team of the Year - Football 1st Team

Sports Person of the Year - Toby Ward (Football)

UCCA Sports Colours Awards: Will Marsden (Rugby), Fiona Hanlon (Football), Dan Brooks (Football), Sean McAllister (Football)

Well doen to everyone that won - well deserved. Look out for photos to follow shortly.

Farnham Student makes impact on SESSA athletics.

Wednesday 5th Decemebr saw the first SESSA indoor Athletics Championships. Will Owoye stepped up to the mark and was entered into the 200m and 400m events. On paper he was 4th fastest going into the event and got throught the heats to the final where he came in a respectable 4th. Going into the 400m (his choosen discipline), Will was the fastest on paper but disaster struck before he could even get a shoe on when his trains were delayed casuing him to narrowly miss his heat for the event. The winning time for this event, although inpressive was not close to Wills 'sub-50' personal best.

Will is still very focused and is already setting his sights on the next event. Well done Will from everyone at the Students' Union and the University.

Farnham Thursday Market

The Union is looking for help with the Thursday market - held in the quad each week. If you have a product or service to sell then we want to hear from you. Whether it be hand-made jewlery, Art, clothing or CD's we want you!

Also - OXFAM are looking for volunteers for the market day. They would love to have a stall here but need a student volunteer to run the stall.

If you are intested and want to know more then pop into the offices and speak to Seb.
